Do crows still scavenge in the winter?

Interesting question. I gave my crows chicken and peanuts today (they loveeee baked chicken, it's my gang's favorite). I gave it to them when I saw them this morning and they didn't take any! Still sitting right outside for me to go clean up after nightfall (when I know they are in the roost for the night).

2 of them came caw-cawing several times, but none took any. :( This is the first time for me and I'm still feeling rather sad about it.

I do contribute it to: 1) a new neighbor is moving in today, so lots of noise around my place, 2) several cats were running around the neighborhood this morning and they may have freaked the crows out as well.

Ah well! Sometimes, dear Marble, crows just don't take the food... even when they like you, even when you've fed them well for months or years. Who knows why? Perhaps yours had a crow-ly meeting today of importance, or were planning a raid, or already stashed a huge pile of food from yesterday, or found a dead deer they're feasting on, or there was a hawk/owl near and they didn't want to risk it, etc....

Keep trying! ❤
