d100 LIST REQUESTS: VOL III

d100 Moments of Reflection for PCs

Sometimes, the road is quiet, the inn is peaceful, and the random encounter rolls are kind. In these moments, a character can reflect, learn about themselves, or make decisions for themselves.

As DMs, we often skip these moments for the PCs in favor of the next bit of adventure. But sprinkling in these moments can be opportunities for players to add a wrinkle of the mundane and relatable to their characters, bringing everyone at the table closer to them.

What is a question any PC could ask themselves, and what's a moment to spur the question?

  1. It's a dark and quiet night, and the ground is drowned from a heavy rain. The water seeps through your boots, and a melancholy soaks your mood. Sad memories float to consciousness. What is a sad memory from your past?

  2. The tavern you settle in for the night is the largest in town. The tables are nearly full but you find a place to sit. As quickly as you sit, a barmaid greets you. "You look famished! What'll you have? The chef's in a good mood tonight." At a glance, a great variety of food graces the many tables of the tavern. Hope flickers. What's a favorite dish you hope the chef can prepare?

Thanks!
