Daily Headphone Purchase Advice thread (2016-05-20)

Budget - soft limit 150 euros, stretchable to maybe 200 Source - desktop mobo at the office), denon-mc3000 (mixing at home) Requirements for Isolation - Good isolation, they will be used mainly in an openspace surrounded by people Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Yes (although not on the street) Preferred Type of Headphone - full size circumaural, closed Preferred tonal balance - neutral/balanced. Past headphones - Sennheiser MX760 (daily driver at work for the past 4 years), Sony MDR-CD180 (I use them to mix, they're awful), Sennheiser HD280 Pro (tried them for a week, lent by a coworker, I don't like their sound signature very much, to me it feels dark/muffled/heavy/tiring/warm, whatever you want to call it, and I feel it has little detail on the mids. Again, driven straight from the desktop's soundcard). Preferred Music - Electronic, my files are all 320kbs and upwards (some flacs, and some wavs) What would you like to improve on your set-up - Audio quality, comfort, isolation. I love the mx760 and I've grown fond of their balanced and neutral sound signature, which is why I'm requiring some neutrals.

From reading reviews on head-fi, what hi-fi, and reading all the guides and info on this subreddit, I'm currently looking at the ATH-M50x (general favorite, although I'm afraid the V-sound won't be for me), ATH-M40x (my favorites right now, I'm just worried about comfort), AKG K551/K553 (their size scare me), and the DT770 (same concerns as the ATH-M50x, but they're beautiful and everyone says they're so comfortable that I can't avoid having them on the list). I'm not very interested in buying an amp/dac.

Unfortunately there are no stores that I know of in my surroundings that allow me to try headphones (Lisbon, PT), so I'll resort to amazon.es/it/uk or thomann.de to make the purchase.

Thank you in advance for your time and support!
