Man, I never had a fear for the ocean till I went on a cruise. Royal Caribbean cruise docked at their island cocokay 1997, one side of the island was very calm, and water was crystal clear blue water. I handed my gf at the time a camera and told her when I wave my arms to take a pic, so I walk out and the water stays ankle deep for awhile. Slowly it makes its way up my leg as I keep walking, makes it to my waist, slowly up my stomach....and suddenly I fall in and its dark blue, I turn around and the island is barely in view. I fucking freaked out and swam my ass back quick, gf was super pissed as I was gone for a few hours, I was lost in thought lol.
