I suppose it could be considered fan service, and I haven’t read the script, but from a screenwriter’s perspective the way Malia encourages her to dance could mean that she wants Kira to loosen up. After all she spends a great deal of time in the series wondering where she and Scott stand. Are they a thing or not? Especially since Illuminated in 3B, where Kira saw how Scott and Allison reacted when they saw each other. At that time Kira might have thought “Is he still in love with her?” And then Allison dies which sets Kira’s progress back because how do you go about wooing a boy whose great first love just died in his arms?

Obviously this is just speculations just as much as any other suggestion, but I think it’s important to give the writers, actors, crew, directors etc. credit. If they listened, implemented and obeyed all fans’ wishes, TW would be called Riverdale.
