Yeah I actually heard one of the first ideas I really like from the dungeon dudes (I generally don’t agree with them but I have to admit I was impressed)

Make about 10-20 templates with some level locked and learn them like a Sorc does meta magic. Lv2 pick up 3 templates and learn more when you gain the swim speed and fly speed types eventually knowing most but not all of them.

It would make Druids unique amoung other Druids, give flavour and abilities to each template and still have a single resource for look at for determining what shape to use.

Weird how it took that long to find a simple and elegant solution but I’d be fully on board for it
