I second this. My dad kindly gave us a “loan” to put more money down on a house we were buying (we could’ve backed out, but he insisted and I was young/dumb). We ended up moving 3 years later after we had our first child because we wanted to pave our own path. There was a falling out (narcissistic on dads part) between us. I told him we were moving and we would pay him back the loan he lent us for the house. And we did indeed. He handled it as if we were going to run off with his money though.

So in conclusion, the loan was for that house. And only that house and was to never be applied to future homes. Looking back we should’ve passed. But damn it feels good to not owe a DAMN thing to him anymore.
