F-ing MIL!

You keep deflecting.

Your dad was an abusive piece of shit, and your mother, a child, was forced to marry him.

A 16 year old doesn't want to get married, heck, most at that age are concerned with completely different matters. Like going to college, for example.

You say that "that's how they did it back then" which sounds like romanticizing it, and being in full acceptance that it was the right thing.

The fact you don't say "mom had a horrible marriage because she had to marry an asshole at 16, when she was still a child" you say "it was the way they did it back then, those wacky folks."

That's the same as saying "racism was fine back then, so I'm fine with it" and "women were property back then, so I'm fine with it."

So I think you inherited all of your dad's lovely... charms, to be kind.

I see no denying your mom is no longer talking to you, so that's confirmation enough.
