Allow me to chime in here.
I'm someone who was good friends with her. We went to high school together, had choir and musical theatre classes together, and I considered her a good friend. We drifted apart a little bit after high school, but had just recently, back in May, came in contact again and rekindled the friendship we once had.
A few things. Back in HS, she was always a little odd. I can't quite pin point what it was, but she just didn't seem 100%. She was always in a relationship where things were never going right even though the guys in the relationships were actually super kind and really REALLY patient with her. She had relationships that always lasted a while, and she would always say how she loves them and can see a life with them, but then things ended. Plus she always seemed rather narcissistic. But she was a super nice and genuine person overall, she would pay for my food sometimes, she would always help whenever she could, she never complained about helping either. Which makes this situation more shocking to me. A lot of people didn't really like her in HS but those of us who got to know her saw that she could be fun to be around in small doses. When we contacted each other again back in May, it SEEMED like she had changed and had a more level head so it was super nice knowing that I, and a mutual friend, wouldn't have to deal with "HS drama" in our adult life with her anymore. Side note: this mutual friend, is a very close friend of mine and has been a close friend of mine since HS, but is someone that Desi also considered a best friend so she always kind of got the brunt of her problems.
There isn't much I can say about this because it's all just so shocking to me and our mutual friend and I was in the dark about her life in specifics. So sorry I can't provide any more info on her. But I can say, this came out of left field and I don't think I can get over the shock of it all.
PS, I've met and hung out with her husband, and he is a super genuine, funny, charismatic, and super chill guy! So my heart REALLY breaks for him because I can only imagine the heartbreak he must be going through. :(
PPS, the mutual friend and I, and another ex-friend of Desiree's (to my knowledge) have all excommunicated Desi from our lives. I have no ill wishes for her, but I also can't associate with people that would do things this disgusting.
