A discussion on Steam Direct, curation and discovery

Unrelated to coughing/talking over, but I actually had a question and I'm not sure it's one that could be answered, but worth asking in case it is --

In regards to discovery, and specifically to Search (which doesn't appear to show up in regards to the TotalBiscuit effect) -- is there a way to tell what specifically that's in regards to? e.g. is that just from people typing 'Defender's Quest' into the search bar to click the name, or does it also apply to people filtering in the general search (which I admittedly don't do a whole lot, but suspect could have some small impact?)

I guess part of why I'm wondering is because I feel like some methods can come across in those metrics as another method in some small but still non-zero amount. For example, I know specifically with getting recommendations from TB (a driving factor in probably 95% of my purchases, which tend to be either directly featured by him, or brought up by Jesse/Dodger on the Co-optional Podcast), I personally forget that a bit.ly link exists and just search it in the bar directly from Steam. I know that's probably the minority, but I'm also curious, since I didn't see ^(admittedly I'm very much on painkillers right now after health stuff) the Search metric on the 'TotalBiscuit effect' section, and was wondering if maybe that might also have been a section of purchases driven by TB, but not directly represented properly.

..I had more examples of other things but honestly this has gotten long and rambly and I apologize immensely and don't expect a real (or any) response, but would be curious if you have a minute or two to spare and can interpret this shit show of a post.
