Does anyone have a Spyderco Tenacious stop pin I can buy?

It is my brother's knife I bought for him, the stop pin broken out of the frame when he flicked it open, he said he didn't have a torx driver and asked me to fix it for him. I saw the stop pin had broken out and sent it to Spyderco instead of disassembling. The exact dollar amout they wanted to charge was $20 and $5 shipping, that's USD, I'm Canadian. It cost me $10 CAD to ship it there, all together in Canadian funds it would have been ove $40, that's pretty damn near the cost of the knife over a stop pin that they wouldn't sell to me.

Here's the correspondence, its long, 9 e-mails:

Me: Hi there I was wondering if I could get a new stop pin for my Tenacious, mine broke right out of the handle. I'm in BC Canada. Thanks

SC: I'm sorry that you are having trouble with your knife. Please send in your knife for warranty evaluation so we can determine if it’s a warranty issue or if your knife can be repaired.

When you send your knife in please include a check, cash, or money order for $5 S&H fee, a note stating the problem you are having with your knife, along with your name, return address (no P.O. Box please unless you are Military or outside the US ) and a phone number you can be reached at. If your knife is covered under warranty your $5 will be returned. Here is a link to our warranty page http://spyderco.com/edge-u-cation/index.php?item=10

If your knife is determined not to be covered by warranty and can be repaired there could be a $20 repair fee.

Unless there is a problem we do not notify you upon arrival or departure of your knife. We are currently at 3-4 week turn around. Spyderco cannot be responsible for items that do not arrive to us; when mailing your package you should send it in a box (knives have a way of working out of padded envelopes).

Sent it out

SC: Sorry after further evaluation the knife send in was not determined to be a warranty issue. There will be a return shipping fee of $5 & a repair fee of $20 to fix, sharpen & return your knife.

Me:Can I please have an explanation as to why it is not covered under warranty?

The only reason I'm being difficult is that fix is very close to the cost of the knife after you factor in two way shipping and the US to Canadian exchange rate. The knife was not abused, unless you consider flicking it open abuse, but I think that's pretty common. I ask because I am having a hard time deciding whether to get it fixed or cut my losses and buy a different knife.

SC: Sorry I have not gotten a reply to my last mail so I am re-sending. The knife shows signs of being disassembled which voids the warranty and will to be disassembled and to be fixed. Depending on how hard you flick your knife can cause your knife to wear out faster and create blade play.

Me:It wasn't disassembled, it's my brother's he doesn't have a torx driver so he asked me to fix it. Maybe he tried to get it apart with something else, but couldn't, which is why he came to me. I sent it in to you rather than disassembling it myself, because the stop pin didn't look right. If you don't want to fix it that's fine, I don't want to spend what the knife is worth again for a new stop pin. I'd rather just buy him a mini grip or something. Thanks anyways.

SC:So, do you just want me to return it to you ?

Me:If it's not going to cost me anything sure.

If I have to pay shipping you can keep it.

Thanks

SC:I’ll ship it back.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Me:Thanks, I appreciate it.
