Does the rule of not meeting a person of the opposite sex alone demean women?

This perspective is written from the imam’s perspective who told a group of men not to be alone with women who aren’t their wives. I didn’t reference anything beyond that. He (or his wife) might say something differently if he was in a room full of women, “Women don’t allow yourself to be alone with a man.”

What he says next will reveal his own perspective – “Don’t be alone with a man, you’ll be tempted” or “Don’t be alone with a woman, he’ll be tempted.”

From this imam’s perspective, men would sexualize women because they’re seen as threats and potential pitfalls to their faith. A man couldn’t be alone with a woman because if he was, it would lead to immorality or compromised. Women are viewed in a sexual lens of danger rather than complete persons.
