Drinks tonight? Thursday 5/14/15

This is like the fourth or fifth time I've seen an OP make this same type of comment on the same type of post. It's the same every time..

"Hey anyone want to grab a drink in 5 minutes exactly where I am right now?"

5 minutes later

"Wtf? Upvotes but nobody's responding???"

Quit acting so entitled!! People are upvoting because it's a nice thing to do, it lets more people see the post and increases your crazy-slim chance of getting a drinking partner tonight. The fact of the matter is 99.99% of people will either a) not be interested in meeting a stranger for a drink, b) not see this post before it's too late, or c) need more than a couple hours notice to drop what they're doing and go hang out with a stranger; they either have different plans, are too far away, have work to take care of, etc.

While we're on the subject. A lot more people might be interested if you said even a tiny bit about yourself. Getting drinks with some anonymous stranger.. Why would anyone go out of their way to do that? Literally every bar in the city is full of anonymous strangers.

Like, come on, it's just common sense. In the 3 hours since you posted, only a handful of people have seen the post. Most people don't even check this sub more than once a day or two. Try posting a few days in advance and giving some more details about yourself, and you'll find that you have much more success.

For example "Anyone interested in getting drinks and hanging out this [day that is at least 3-4 days away]? I work in [neighborhood] and will be at [name of bar] at [time] enjoying some [choice of beverage]. Would love to meet some of you. A little about myself, I moved here from [city] and work as a [profession]. I'm really into [hobby], [interest], and [pastime].

Sorry for the rant, and sorry to single you out OP. It isn't just you, a lot of people do this, you just happened to be the one to get a rant out of me. It's a pet peeve of mine I guess.

And also sorry if you see this orangered and get your hopes up that it's a drinking buddy.
