Eco-fascism sentiments seem very mainstream now, why?

I’m concerned that famine is unavoidable at this point. As soil depletion looms and climate change accelerates the best time to change to sustainable agriculture to avoid a massive die-off of our species would have been a couple decades ago. Major growing regions are headed straight for desertification already. Add in wild seasons (i.e. growing season shortened by an entire month because of surprise frost), unpredictable water supply, and a loss of synthetic inputs, and it doesn’t sound very positive. These factors also contribute to political instability which prevent those areas from producing.

Now that’s not saying I disagree with the approach - rather I sincerely do not believe that we have time to make any sort of transition that would be able to support our current global population before losing a bunch of it.

I’m far from an expert though, I just see a LOT of information that does not seem to line up in a good way
