Okay, this is the second time someone has said it’s because Amity’s mom makes her dye her hair.

That’s canon, I know it is, Dana said so. But, and forgive me if I’m a major idiot who zoned out during the specific line, when in the SHOW has this been confirmed? I know it wasn’t in season 1. I just did a rewatch of Escaping Expulsion and it wasn’t mentioned there that I know of. And I didn’t hear it said in this episode either.

There was a line from Emira about not letting their Mom know she played a part in Amity’s hair, but that’s not the show saying it, that’s just pointing out that a 14 year old dying their hair a ridiculous color without their parents permission would make them upset. I grew up with a Mom who wasn’t controlling at all, but she’d have flipped her lid if I went and dyed my hair that color at 14 without saying anything to her first.

If it hasn’t been confirmed in the show itself, and only in a tweet or an AMA, then that isn’t stellar storytelling. If it has been, then I was the idiot and I’ll absolutely retract my complaint about Amity not having an in show reason for dying her hair. My complaints about the pacing will still stand, though.
