Everybody Plays Anything! May 10th

/u/PliskinIroquois inspired me to make an attempt at Battletoads, although I'm not doing anywhere near as well as him.

Level 1 was actually pretty easy and straightforward (although I still manage to mess up a lot). The boss fight was also really cool and probably one of my favorite parts so far.

Level 2 on the other hand...

Level 2 isn't actually that bad either, as I can play through it without too much difficulty now. It's just that 1st run that I failed miserably at. Everything was going fine until these annoying retro blaster enemies showed up. They're pretty quick, and can kill you in about two hits I think. There's a wrecking-ball-looking attack that makes fighting them a lot easier, but I couldn't figure out how to do it until after beating the level for the first time and Pliskin gave me some pointers.

Then I got to the third level and things really started going downhill. I also realized in this level for the first time, that you only have a limited number of continues and after that you have to restart from the first level :( Surprisingly, the vehicle segment in this level wasn't nearly as bad as I expected...or at least most of it (I'll go into that more later). The first several parts can definitely be difficult if you don't know what's coming, but it's not so bad once you figure it out, and the checkpoints are much more generous than I was kind of expecting. The anguish mostly stems from the final stretch which I had to do I don't even know how many times. The pattern is incredibly simple as it just alternates from top to bottom, but the speed at which the walls come at you is just completely insane. I eventually lost almost all my will and just started kind of randomly jumping all over the place which somehow finally got me to beat it.

I've been recording it as well if anyone's interested in watching it for some reason. Right now I've only got levels 1 & 2 uploaded, and I'll probably get around to editing and uploading level 3 sometime tomorrow. That being said, DO NOT watch my videos! I am so terribly bad at this game that it's downright appalling. If you do decide to watch it for some reason though, you might want to, at the very least, mute the inane, boring commentary I provide (if you can even call it "commentary").

Incidentally, I'm glad I waited to edit/upload my footage of level 3 as I was definitely going to edit in Guile's Theme after beating that last vehicle segment...until I realized Pliskin did the exact same thing in his video lol. Oh well...I guess great minds think alike?
