Explaining long hospitalization to toddler at home

I’m sending so many positive thoughts.

I was hospitalized for over 2 months with my 2nd. Though, that was in a pre-covid world (2004), so my oldest kid (18 months older than my 2nd) got to come hang out with me in the hospital fir at least 3 hours per day, so you definitely have it worse.

I think our oldest’s experience is more related to the fact that he is bipolar (obviously not diagnosed with that till much older, 16 years old) than the actual experience being that traumatic. But, we had to take him to therapy (play therapist recommended by our pediatrician) to make it so I could leave his sight without him being so hysterical he’d throw up. The play therapist helped a ton and I highly recommend it...though, considering my autistic 13 year olds therapies and my, aforementioned, 18 year olds mental health therapist has been all remote for months now, I’ve got no clue how therapy for a 2 year old works right now.
