[Fact Check] Despite the fact that black people commit an equal or greater number of violent crimes than whites, whites are almost TWICE as likely to be killed by police officers.

Edit 2

You mention above the analysis relative to crime rate. Consideration of crime rates does nothing whatsoever to vindicate the claim that white people are killed at twice the rate of black people. In fact, we still have the opposite tend: black people are much more likely to be shot by police, even when we consider violent crime rate offenses within these groups respectively.

Evidence:

Across the board and irrespective of racial group, poverty is a major predictor of violent crime rate. From another DOJ study:

"The overall pattern of poor persons having the highest rates of violent victimization was consistent for both whites and blacks"

In other words, "poor" is a far more accurate descriptor for the group with the most criminal members than any race descriptor.

Moreover, black group membership is again disproportionately represented among poverty group membership. (cf. this research and analysis project from Rutgers: https://tcf.org/content/report/architecture-of-segregation/ )

So if the hypothesis that burden and violent crime rate vary together is correct, then it's clear why black people are more often entangled in violent crime than are white people. It so happens that this is one of the most tried-and-true hypothesis in all of social science.

But even that can be put aside, since the math still shows that black people are disproportionately executed and battered by excessive police force. This is due to the fact that we know they are 21 times as likely to be victims of excessive and lethal force.

The so-called "crime rate" gap between white offenders and black offenders is absolutely swamped by this rate (i.e. : 560,600(white):99,403(black) is approximately a 5:1 ratio, where the lethal force ratio is 21:1. Not all but the vast majority of violent crimes are committed by young men, so something in this ballpark is very likely to be accurate.
