Teenager 'murdered by ex-boyfriend' after police fined her for wasting their time over her fears about him, court hears

My dad's neighbours have been harassing him to sell his property for years. They have the last two properties in the middle of a reserve. The theory is the last one standing can name their price for the land (upwards of $1 million). So far he's had verbal threats, his property shot at, animals let out of pens, trespassing, the list goes on. They even tried to reignite a fire he put out so it would burn down his property. My dad's a retired war vet and very fit for his age so could probably kick their arse if he wanted to. But he built his house with his own hands and just wants to live there in peace. He went to the police after they violated the restraining order he has against them. But the police told him no you're the perpetrator and they're the victim. Apparently they both have same first name and the cop thought he was the other guy. No matter what my dad said the cop wouldn't take his statement. When he asked about the bullet holes in his shed coming from the direct of the neighbours, they said 'how do we know you didn't make them youself?'. Understandably he's lost all faith in the police.
