Fast Food Workers: You Don’t Deserve $15 an Hour to Flip Burgers, and That’s OK

So what is your solution? Pay fast food employees 15 an hour?

No, I didn't give my opinion on how to fix it, I was just criticizing the author for his demeanor and blatant lack of understanding.

But if you actually care about my opinion, I think the minimum wage needs to come up, but 15 is too much for right now. I think it should be tied to inflation and the cost of living index, and should go up in much much smaller increments much more often. The minimum wage going up 25 cents an hour every year is going to be much less of a burden on business owners than going up $5 all of the sudden.

The solution is definitely not not to just sit back and let large corporations pay them poverty wages and let the taxpayer pick up the rest of the tab. If someone works 40 hours a week, they should not be in poverty. It doesn't have to be $15, but it has to be more than $7.

I feel for these people who can't feed their families. There isnt much hope for a lot of them because they're stuck in a cycle of work-family with no time to further themselves and learn a useful skillset. That sucks. Hopefully their kids will see this and learn to pull themselves out of the same situation their parents are in.

This is what the author should have said. Instead he insulted them and told them to go get better jobs.

There is no elegant solution.

Exactly. It's a tough one. It's hard to say what can fix it, but telling everyone to just go get a higher paying job is definitely not going to fix anything.

Keep in mind, we raise the minimum wage and a lot of people dont get food stamps, or other assistance from the government.

That's still a better situation. It may not have fixed the problem for the workers, but it fixed a problem for the taxpayer.
