We do. And a lot of us don’t accept it. If someone is actively trying to make me feel bad, regularly, just because they’re upset, I break up with them. If they’re that upset with me with enough reason, they break up with me. I was told by society for the first 20 years of my life I couldn’t love the people I’ve loved, and I had to have a plan for being cut out of my house and family if coming out to them went badly. Cutting people out of my life for my own good is not something I’m a stranger to. It’s not something I ever have done lightly, but it’s something I know how to get through. Sometimes it’s more sensible than enduring.
