Flat rate techs: what have been your most useful tools or tricks for improving your speed?

keep a NOTE book daily with your flat rate times quoted for each repair order.. so you can compare it to your paycheck.. a friend found a tire chain store GM was knocking down his flat rate times between the time the job was done and the customer invoice was printed out.. excuse was saving the customer on some labor.. this started happening on an almost daily basis.. he complained but there was nothing to do.. a customer came back for additional work and happened to leave a paid invoice on the front seat.. he took a picture of it with his cell phone when the car was in his bay.. he went over to the work order.. the GM had knocked 3 hours off a 7 hour job.. saving the customer some money to sell the job.. only issue is.. the GM had NOT discounted the customer. the GM had charged them full bore.. they had discounted the techs flat rate pay. in a former dealership.. they deducted 3 bucks an hour from flat rate for a helper. but they deducted 3 bucks from everybody and never dispensed it to anybody.. that lawsuit stands. the dealer actually filed BK. to attempt to avoid it.. and they knocked off 3 bucks after taxes. talk about a slush fund.. when i worked for a chain.. i had to clock in at the various stores as i moved around a few days a week.. i worked 28 days in a row without a day off.. and only made 4 hours of overtime a week.. i started photocopying my time cards.. the chain actual removed all the copy machines.. required senior staff to go out for copies. the store managers were throwing away my time cards.. they found a way to fire me a few weeks later.. i hope this helps.. snap an image of each work order/estimate send it instantly to your home email. or the cloud.. don't let it stay in your phone.. don't let them see you doing it.. put your finger or thumb over the customers private data. name/home address. but make sure you can see the work order or invoice number. does this help..
