Foundry is a mess and it's getting worse

I’m a Roll20 user for almost seven years. I bought Foundry last year with hope of eventually learning it well enough to run games, last week was a break through and I feel good about the VTT.

Is it perfect? Of course not. In fact I feel like basic functions like updating and downloading are kind of a pain until you know where to look. But that’ll get better over time. I love the modules, and so far the community is super helpful.

Everyday in the r/pathfinder sub someone is talking up Foundry and how it’s light years ahead of Roll20. It’s not, at least not yet. It’s a cost effective alternative but f you’re willing to put the time in to learn the basic of how everything works.

Here’s my analogy between the two VTTs:

Roll20 is like the pre-made rotisserie chicken you buy in the store. It’s already seasoned and cooked all you do is warm it up. Easy.

Foundry is like going to the farm, picking out the chicken, taking it home and preparing it yourself. You season it to your tastes and cool it how you want. It’ll be a bit messy but the satisfaction of doing it yourself is rewarding.

And now I’m hungry.
