You are wrong to assume grammer gender annd biological gender go hand in hand. For example, Romanian has 3 genders: masculin, feminin and neutral. But not because neutral is a neutral way of saying something, or calling a category of people in a neutral way. There is not even an equivalent for ''it'' in Romanian and you always have to mention the gender of the person or add a suffix to understand if the sentence is about a guy or a girl.

Ex: Masculine noun: om (human). Un om, doi oameni. In order to determine the gender you have to count, that way passing the noun through both the singular and plural forms. ''Un'' and ''doi'' means it's masculine.

Feminine: casa (house). O casa, doua case. ''O'' and ''doua'' will identify the feminine gender.

Neutral simply means that some nouns are considered masculin in their singular form, but feminin in the plural form. For example: motor (engine). In this singular form, you say un motor (one engine), so masculin. When you say doua motoare (two engines), so plural, it becomes feminine in romanian, while it stays unchanged in english.

An even better example of the fact grammar and biology have little to nothing in common, is the fact the word ''penis'' (meaning the same thing as in english), the symbol of masculinity, is actually a neutral noun in romanian (un penis, doua penisuri). So is ''clitoris'' (biologically, that is specific to women) who in romanian is a neutral noun (un clitoris, doua clitorisuri). Moreover, the vulgar way of saying penis , ''pula'' (the equivalent of english dick), is a feminine noun in romanian (o pula, doua pule).
