From a Partisan, to overthrowing the Ustasa and Italian + Nazi occupation in Yugoslavia, to surviving multiple assassination attempts from Stalin and finally having the balls to roast Stalin in a letter saying “if you don’t stop sending assassins, I’ll send one, and I won’t have to send another”.

Baron Carl Gustaf Mannerheim. Voted the most influential person ever in finnish history. The veteran of six wars, the sixth president of Finland and the only person to bear the title "Marshal of Finland". By some considered the last knight of Europe (due to his chivalrous persona).

At the age of 51, when Tsarist Russia ended, Mannerheim in effect became unemployed and homeless and believed that his life lay behind him. However, unbeknownst to him, his greatest feats yet lay ahead of him. When Finland was born out of the demise of Imperial Russia it became Mannerheims personal mission to ensure its survival. Using his knowledge, military experiance and diplomatic skills he played a huge role in the survival of one of northern Europe's youngest nations.
