I’m not from Huddersfield and am not aware of the car park you’re talking about but I would like to hazard a guess that the fine you received was from a private parking company as opposed to the council. Unfortunately, it is quite well documented that many of these private parking firms operate as cowboys in a grey area. They are often aggressive and unfair giving minimal space to oppose or appeal and they charge way beyond what councils do.

My suggestion would be to not engage them in any way. In other words do not try and appeal through their appeals process. Ignore them and write to your MP as these rotten and unpleasant companies need a ton more regulation.
