Gary Neville's full reaction to the news of a potential super league

The biggest clubs breaking away and forming their own league, from which there is no promotion or relegation. So, it'll just be top clubs playing each other all season. Which might sound kinda cool to the casual fan actually, hey Real Madrid and Man City in the same league, neato.

Thing is it basically tosses whatever remains of the longstanding merit-based system out the window. No more dark horses coming and causing upsets, no more Norwich and Leeds and Southampton making things exciting. No more getting shit on at Burnley and dropping points. No more Merseyside Derbies.

And no more Leicesters winning the league against all odds. Those odds are already getting so slim in leagues where the same 3-4 teams win the league over and over, which is bad enough, but at least it's POSSIBLE and we have hope.

If you are not a fan of those clubs you might no care as much, since your team would still be in the same league and actually have a better chance at winning it without the superclubs there. But what happens to the Premier League when all the biggest teams with the biggest fanbases are gone? When it's no longer the "best league in the world" and your team has no chance of playing in the "new best league"? Dark days indeed.
