Goal of life-long therapy?

I am a therapist, and also a client myself. I have been in weekly therapy for 8 years and plan to continue indefinitely. This is not to say I may not change therapists, take breaks, or change up modalities. I have many goals in therapy to address different issues I live with, and goals are changing all the time, but I really enjoy and benefit from having the space every week.

Because I've chosen this work for my own career, it's the only place where I can speak freely and openly about not only my own personal life, but the way that my clients impact me and intersect with my own experiences. It helps me be a happier person and a better therapist.
