Had a good laugh of this one

Ok, I added the /s in my comment since it seems difficult for some to see sarcasm and hyperbole in comments. Might help you.

I obviously know what a lightning rod do...

> Because, as I said earlier, if someone is in your home when you are there, they're prepared to engage in violence.

That's if they know and the cases where they know you are there and still come in are rare. Very rare. But if you have enemies or reasons to think people might want to specifically attack you in your home, then by all means, go ahead and get a gun and I hope you stay safe.

> That's only true if I don't respect anything I handle, or I'm already suicidal. Neither of those things about me or my family are true.

And that's what we call optimism bias : " Optimism bias is a cognitive bias that causes someone to believe that they themselves are less likely to experience a negative event. It is also known as unrealistic optimism or comparative optimism "

> Conclusion not supported by premises. Your conclusion may be true

Wait, if my conclusion may be true, it may be supported by what? If you think my conclusion is wrong, just go ahead and say it. For exemple, the premise of suicide or accidental firearm injuries seem rather logical and far from outlandish, so why doesn't it support the conclusion?
