Happy 10th birthday to us! Celebrating the best of 10 years of Reddit

Ever since the Pao shit hit I realized the good ole days of reddit are quickly coming to a close. I went searching for something different, specifically something that won't have the same inherent problems with it's fundamental concept that reddit (being a 10 year old site) has. I know reddit rebuilding now to fix the major issues is too risky, they have corporate sponsors to answer to, and they aren't as hungry for innovation as they used to be.

Anyway, I posted this place a couple weeks back and have been thoroughly enjoying the platform. It's similar to reddit in all the good ways (kind of like jumping into a new tesla will still feel familiar enough to use even though its a completely different concept under the hood), but from the ground up has been built to tackle issues like censorship, reposts or harassment. The community is fresh, small and extremely helpful & friendly... it feels like the old reddit at age 2 even though the site "is" technically a bit older.

Here are 6 fundamental differences:

  1. You can post content into more than one community (tribe) at a time which helps to keep reposts to a minimum
  2. Instead of Link Karma/Comment Karma you earn Experience Points for level ups and Reputation based on the votes placed on your content
  3. All members can contribute to your posts by adding related links sorted by vote score
  4. A Referral Program is available to help grow your community
  5. Each member has a limit on how many tribes (communities) they can own based on XP level
  6. No Censorship

Here are some general similarities I mentioned above:

  1. You can vote up or down on all posts / comments / contributions
  2. Our communities are called "tribes" and we use the /t/ to organize them ie. /t/lounge
  3. The front page shows the most popular content
