You arent allowed to defend Elon on here anymore.
Like dont get me wrong-- I also find it horrific that someone should be permitted the power and wealth that he has, and everyone should fight that he has such power and wealth. But this doesn't make HIM evil.
Ill die on this hill with you. He may have done some bad things, but on the grand scale he hasn't done anything horrific that I know about. Atleast nothing that the vast majority wouldn't do in his position.
From what ive read/heard he seemingly treats his employees well (wage/benefits/etc), he has invested in failing companies and turned them into successes, and to my knowledge he supports the idea of a wealth tax that is directly made to supress the ridiculous power he has obtained.
Additionally, it wasnt his parents wealth that provided for his success. I believe he may have had upwards of $100,000 free to invest when he got started? Of course 100,000 is a massive amount in comparison to the -20,000 debt alot of people start with--- but its ridiculous to claim that his success was predetermined from being born with money. There are alot of people (atleast thousands) with $100,000 in expendable funds. None of these people are turning this 100k into billions of dollars.
Like I prefer that people hound on the elite (demigods as I like to call those like Elon-- the 8 people controlling 60% of the capital on the planet) regardless of truth since it is very easy for people with the power of gods to fabricate the truth--- but i think we go overboard with demonizing them and shouldn't due so when they arent the real problem.
We ABSOLUTELY need to remove people like Elon or Bill gates from their positions of immeasurable power--- but we dont have to lynch them in the process. Like I would get it if they were the type of elite who actually believed themselves to be gods-- but so long as they don't prevent people from fixing the system, I dont fault them for abusing it in the meantime. Save the lynching for those actively preventing us from implementing campaign finance reform or other policies neccessary to depose the demigods.
