Given the fact that the US has shitty maternity leave protection and overworks people I’d say large scale measures of doctors recommending a low risk prevention method to the wider population at least during a large chunk of American history especially when antibiotics were scarcer / less well-developed than they are today (basically, pre-1960s) - likely helped keep infant mortality rates fairly low.

Look, get your kid circumcised or don’t, I don’t care. What I do care about is its comparison to FGM which is a literal torture method that also results in an explosion of health problems, rather than (in male circumcision’s case) a reduction thereof at the small expense of “oh no now I have to use a bit of lube to masturbate”. It’s not a fair comparison and really anyone who does compare them and knows how diabolically evil FGM is should be ashamed.
