Homeless man offered job after being kicked off property

That's nice - but what are we even debating at this point ? I don't care why homeless people moved here - my original point (before I had to defend it against people like you who want to argue homlessness) was that this "feel good" article reads as a joke to people like me who have been constantly negatively affected by the choices of homeless people who are homeless because they want to be - not because they are victims of circumstance. That's where my issue is . I've posted sources that clearly demonstrate how the majority of homeless in Portland are there because of drugs. I've shown evidence that portland homeless s population has soared far above the national average. This is a real problem whether you want to admit it or not. Therefore- I'm going to speak up when I see a post like this article which blatantly tries to paint a feel good picture of the homeless issue here in Portland. Homeless aren't there because of lack of jobs and resources- they are in that situation because they are on drugs and chose to move to a city with the highest unemployment in America (2008) then stayed here for another 7 years. There are so many resources to get people off drugs and off the streets but people who actually need those resources find it hard to come by because of the other homeless that ransacked the resources when they moved here.

Yes- I DO blame homeless for moving here when unemployment was as high as it was in 2008. If you are serious about beating your homelessness situation- you don't pack up and move to a city that has no jobs. If you do - then don't be mad when I call you out for being part of the problem and not the solution.

I don't know what more you want from me - but I will never admit that most homeless people in Portland need help and are a victim of circumstance. There is far too much evidence to show that only a fraction of our homeless population are there because of bad luck. The rest are here for a free ride .
