How warranties work from someone who understands retail ecommerce.

The whole discussion is a bit pointless. This is just a normal pitfall when dealing with a small company.

Dealing with a small company means that the warranty is not as assured as a larger established company. Smaller scale means that they can't absorb as much of a loss, and also means that there is a larger chance that they go away. So the warranties they offer are fundamentally more limited.

For example Framework is more limited than Dell/Apple/Lenovo, hence why you can't get an extended warranty. That doesn't mean that Framework is bad, it just means that they aren't in a position to offer you a 5 year warranty.

LMG's creator warehouse is an even smaller company so it is difficult for them to budget for it.

This is not an issue for a drink bottle or mouse pad, but this issue is becoming apparent as they make more expensive items with longer assumed warranties.

Like buying from a Kickstarter project, you just have to understand that you don't get as many consumer protections from smaller companies.
