I'm not a spiritual person

To put it in your language:

Insert "knowledge" Insert "deeds" Iman = knowledge + deeds Connection = eIman

Your level of "connection" really in it's essence a function of the knowledge you possess and the deeds you do... It's really that simple.. try to enhance both and tell me that you don't see a difference!

  1. Read and learn who Allah is. Ponder over the names and attributes of Allah. You WILL recognize the majesty of the almighty. You will love Him for his kindness and blessings to you, you will fear him for his greatness. ALL human beings are hard-wired to. No matter how emotionless they may seem on the outside.

  2. Read the Quran with meaning. Start with the shorter chapters first. These give you a taste of the first few revelations that were intended for the meccans. Very appropriate for those of us finding ourselves in a similar situation as yours.

  3. Read the biography of the Noble messenger.

  4. Perform good deeds and leave bad deeds.

Also, I recommend reading the works of imam ibnul qayyim. He is not called the doctor of hearts without reason. He touches upon the subjects of love, fear and hope in Allah and sooo well beautifully expounded. I highly recommend his works n addition to the above.

All the best to you! I think it's only a matter of time until you start getting a grip on things.. May Allah swt guide you and guide me and the muslims to his right path!
