I'm a proud feminist and this entire plot infuriates me

Personally, I find that a lot of other “feminist” shows and movies tend to be deeper, and if that’s what I’m in the mood for that’s what I’ll go watch. What I enjoy about this show is the very on the nose depictions of misogyny because I don’t ever get to see that. It’s fun. It’s refreshing. It’s easy. I’m so so so so soooo fucking TIRED of this incessant need everyone has for a women based show to “be the bigger person” all the time. Everything has to be better, deeper, more moral etc etc when that same standard is not held to every other show and movie. No other show has a dedicated criticism thread or people nit picking every tiny detail of how victimized they’ve been made to feel by a show. Does it happen? Yes. But to this extent? No. We’re sooooo used to the male gaze that anything else that calls out everyday misogyny feels uncomfortable. And I frankly don’t care. I don’t care if this show gets it wrong sometimes or hurts some peoples feelings, because it doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s carving a new path. Mistakes may be made but mostly it’s fucking fabulous. It’s also a bit of an origin story and I imagine once the story is finished we will see more of secure and confident Jen/SheHulk. For now I revel in the shows portrayal of misogyny & jealousy.

This is pretty good, thank you. Each time I read it I'm like, hmmm am I convinced? I'll watch the finale anyways (which I wasn't planning before).

Further, I am conflicted, okay it's something new and on the nose, but was this the way to go? A Marvel series attempting sociatal debate? Are there other Marvel series that have this angel? Why couldn't it just me a regular Marvel series with a female lead? No, it's a female lead, so we had to make it special. Any opinions?
