im speechless

many wheelchair users can walk. Actually the majority I think. Some can even walk perfectly well, but can't do it for long distances or it depends on how much pain they're in that day, or their disability means they are sometimes incapable of even standing and can walk on other days.

It's pretty ignorant to assume no wheelchair users can ever walk, because it leads to people getting harrassed for being in a wheelchair when someone saw them get up.

You hear all the time about people getting harrassed after standing up in the grocery store to get something off a shelf when they're in a wheelchair, and people accusing them of faking.

Where I live, last summer a woman left a public pool because she got out of her wheelchair to shower and people started shouting at her and calling her a horrible person for pretending to need a wheelchair when she was very much disabled.

This person is getting shit for a DIY that is very likely, useful to them, and would be to many other wheelchair users as well.

Being paralyzed or having broken legs aren't the only reason people need wheelchairs.
