Increase of homeless people in Fountain City

Tampons are one item that's often forgotten and really needed. Pads are very helpful, too, but women will be so grateful for tampons. Along the same lines, underwear is always needed. That's harder because of size and gender differences, but that also makes it even more needed, since it's not as easy to donate or hand out as socks.

Also consider something fun and not "necessary." Boosting mental health and happiness is part of our overall health and wellbeing. You can probably get cheap stuff at the dollar store or something, so if you did like a womens bag with tampons and underwear, maybe consider also putting nail polish, perfume, a necklace, or something like that. For men, maybe beef jerky, bandanas, or a deck of playing cards.

Hairbrushes, combs, non-alcoholic mouthwash (in case someone is in recovery), and deodorant are also often needed.

Part of my job is with people who are homeless, and these are the things we often need. I can't stress enough how happy women are when we have tampons available for them. We aren't able to offer services like we do normally because of covid-19, so I've been worried. I can't personally afford to do this, so it's really amazing if you are able, but also don't overextend yourself.

If anyone is ever mean, realize that's just one person and there could be lots of reasons for it, and try not to let it reflect on everyone else. People are grateful, even if they don't express it. They've seen a lot of cruelty in this world and it can be hard to know how to properly react to or even trust kindness. Maybe you don't need to be told this, but perhaps someone else will read this and it will help them understand more
