Fuck Ubiq. Got there at 8PM friday (when they close the store) to line up for the masters. I'm the first dude in line, until I see a group of 15 dudes across the street. One comes over and let's me know that they have their own list of people, and who's in what order. Whatever, I put my name (somehow there's 33 names before mine and only 15 other dudes), take a picture of it in case they try to pull shit later, and go back to standing next to the door at the store, while they stayed across the street. The guys say they're "gunna take role call" of everyone on the list throughout the night and take out anyone who doesnt report, supposedly so no one just dips to go home and comes back at night. Of course tho, the dudes running the list check-in for whoever they want, but they actually cut like 3 names, so I'm number 34. Come 4-5AM though, the line up everyone according to their list, enforcing shit through them outnumbering any other group or a single dude like myself. Whatever, I was in a solid place (looked like I was really 26, but I assumed maybe 5 more people would come, so I was really 31) and I figured they would have just enough pairs for me to get one. 9AM comes around, and the store cashier comes out to give ticket numbers, and that's when shit gets real real. All of a sudden HOMELESS dudes who were paid by the dudes who ran the list are cutting people, people who I'd never seen before are in the front of the line, people who I saw walk up at 1AM were in the front (paid for it). Cashier says " We got 40 pairs, im giving 40 tickets". Cool, he gives number 39, and I'm reaching my hand out for my ticket (number 40 out of 40), and some dude that I was talking to the whole night jumps the gun and takes it from me. I get 41, the cashier was no help, he saw it happen and said "I aint the line police". Ended up not making a difference though, they sold out at ticket 32. Not goin back there
