3D chalk drawings have that forced-perspective problem as well, but they have a much bigger problem that overwhelms anything else.

The 3D effect is based on scaling. The lines are drawn such that if you stand in a specific spot relative to the drawing, the relative scale and the orientation of the lines matches what you'd see if the drawing were rising out of the surface, or falling into the surface. The down side is that if you look at it from any other position, it doesn't just look wrong - it's completely incomprehensible. You can't tell what it's even supposed to be.

I don't think this hockey example uses that trick. People on the other side of the rink may perceive that they're watching the video upside-down and with some perspective skewing, but they'll still be able to tell what it's supposed to be.
