Is it just me or are most power tools (or tools in general) made by a shared vendor?

It's not just what corporations own the brands, it's also a more insidious fact: they all outsource their design to China. This came to the forefront when a well known white-goods brand decided to onshore their dishwasher production, in Ohio: they literally didn't have any engineering talent state-side who knew anything about dishwashers, because for years, they'd just tell the Chinese "we want an appliance that does XYZ" and leave it at that.

Realistically, if you're buying on the lower end, buy whatever color you want. The only differences are what corners a brand allowed the factory to cut. Other than that, they're all made in the same Chinese factories with the same Chinese plastic.
