Teachers of Reddit, what was the biggest student meltdown you ever witnessed?

Student with multiple diagnoses: refused to do work/ participate in class class activities. Work was heavily modified for him, he was given breaks and therapies and positive reinforcement. One of the strategies to use with him (came through school psych and approved by mom) was a behavior contract where we logged his behavior, work, etc. One day, I gave him a verbal reminder to not lay across his classmate (yes, you read that right) and check mark his sheet that he's not using good personal space. He flips out. Stands up and starts pacing the back of the room, which I actually don't mind so I let him be. After 5 minutes, I ask if he needs a break. He tells me no, but starts kicking things... bookshelves, desks, lab stations (science class), other kids backpacks. At this point, I tell him he has to take a break.

Hell opened. "You fckingbitch! You fcking bitch bitch bitch bitch! I hate you! I hate yoooooouuu! Somebody should murder you!" The whole class is horrified at what is happening. I call to have him removed and followed up with the school psych- he tore through her office; ripped all the crap off the walls, overturned a couch, threw her picture frames and broke them.

Mom came in and had the meeting with us the next day and told us all we were incompetent... thanks. I am a 6th grade gen ed science teacher and I love my job. But, man, there are days when I question the validity of some students being in the classroom when they are clearly unstable.
