Aftershocks

They were back in their home, the one place that the two siblings adored almost as much as they did one another. But something was different, an unspoken tension between the two that neither ever mentioned. There were stolen glances at one another, a touch or a smile that lingered for just a moment too long when they spoke. The thoughts that plagued Aduialon from the moment he woke to the moment he laid down to sleep, and even then his dreams were never without her presence.

As he stood there, wailing upon a training dummy with a practice sword, her face appeared there on the wood. His arms strained and he stopped it just short of hitting the dummy, a blink and she was gone just as quickly as she had appeared. It was no use, even when all he wanted to do was empty his mind she was there with that small smile she'd always give him. He tossed the sword away and in the same movement slicked his now sweat soaked hair back to get it out of his eyes.

'Is there something wrong with me? This must not be natural...' All these thoughts were swirling around his head like a maelstrom of confusion and love. He'd never felt anything like this before in quite the same manner. There was love for his friends, for Aduialeth when she was there and even now while she was gone, but what was there for Saraliel was different than all of it. Each touch from her left a tingling, almost like there was a charge of electricity just under her fingertips. His heart would sink when she wasn't there and when she was it soared along with the clouds.

He scratched the back of his neck, a groan echoing out from him as he kicked a nearby mellyrn tree. "This is worse than the Balrog..."
