Depends on the office. I work in a very large office, with 5 regular dentists (who do root canals, extractions, fillings, GA work, bridges, etc. and two who do Invisalign and implants). Then we have the specialists (like periodontist, orthodontist, two denturists, a root canal specialist, etc.) We even have a mini lab in the office where we create the implants and stuff. We also have people called PDA who do the whitening stuff, and of course the hygienists who do night-guard impressions and consultations besides cleanings. Oh and if you want more advanced cosmetic stuff for your teeth some dentists can do veneers. I think in Chris' case )I may be wrong) his office could be smaller so maybe they specialize in only specific things besides what regular dentists are qualified to do - like maybe cosmetic work. Anything from whitening, to shaping teeth, night guards to veneers. Sorry for the rambling I'm just a college student working the front desk hoping to become a dentist in a few years because teeth fascinate me :')
