Landlord charged after harassing tenant

I remember finding a good landlord in Kingston was awful, glad they are starting to charge the bad ones.

The apartment I lived in for a year before leaving the city, our landlord did multiple big no-nos.

1) Our fridge broke down in August, and despite us emailing the landlord multiple times stating it was not our wrongdoing that caused it to break down she got back to us in September.. by telling us that she could not replace the fridge right away. She did not even get us a replacement fridge until begging her repeatedly that we needed a fridge for food, she was mad at us because she 'offered' us the keys to an empty unit 3-blocks down with an available fridge and we told her we wanted a fridge in our unit. It took till November to get a new fridge in our unit. 2) Our lease agreement included laundry, but our laundry machines were broken for 6 out of the 12 months of our residency there and every time we brought it up she just ignored the issue saying it wasn't a concern. 3) Tried telling us we couldn't keep our dog, yet we found out it was because we were a young couple she didn't want us to keep the dog (we still did since the other 3 units in the building all had pets, and were never told they weren't allowed). 4) During move out, she charged us an extra $500 in damages, yet when we proved that the damages were there prior to us moving in (we had photo documentation and emails sent) she still tried hunting us down to pay the money...

Overall, being with a good landlord in a new city makes me realize how truly awful a lot of the Kingston slumlords are. And I hope the police begin to crack down on these shady ones that just abuse their powers and make their tenant's lives a living hell.
