Long term Kendo - Risk on brain

/r/larp sneaking in ;)

modern HEMA is relatively new. A few decade ago, there was (basically), classical western fencing, Kendo and a few people doing artistic/stunt fencing which are basically western-style kata (as the full sequence is known in advance by the participants), in re-enactment troops (or as a stunt artist for festival/movies).

With the popularity of middle-age (Lord of the ring movie, Game of throne TV show), niche hobbies like LARP becoming massively popular there was some request for some new form of fencing. This would include

- HEMA which is one to one fight with wooden/metal sword replica and a mix between modern and traditonal protective gear for a maximum safety

- Sport LARP/Game fencing which is basically free for all fight with foam sword

- Historical Medieval battle : Which is basically 5 vs 5 battle with (blunt) metal swords and metal armour

As being absolutely beginner in Kendo (just passed the 5th Kyu) I don't know how much connection between these worlds. Except that they are niche alternative to regular fencing.
