I’m looking to get into the hobby and was wondering what planes you folks would recommend for a beginner with a budget of around $150?

I am going to go against the grain here. having a great transmitter is important, however, before you shell out those bucks, how about you get something to try out. Once you find a group/field and learn to fly, you can upgrade your equipment. I bought a 6 channel transmitter out the gate and the plane I want to eventually fly needs 7 so I wasted that on an expensive-ish transmitter.
For a combo deal that will not break the bank, try this setup to see if you even like flying. It comes in at about 1/2 your budget, then you can save more and get a better transmitter later, and pass this whole setup to someone else down the road to get started.
