I’m out here in Durham for vacation— where are all of the “cool” neighborhoods to hang out at with restaurants, shopping, etc?

Naturally you’re free to hold whatever personal opinions you like of their beer - plenty of people enjoy drinking it and I’m not trying to convince anyone not to.

I’m coming to my view from a more technical perspective as a nationally certified beer judge for the last 8 years, which is both a matter of crediting a beer for its strengths and picking up on the many potential flaws. My main issue with Fullsteam is that many of their beers end up with certain off flavors that are produced by (best case) poor yeast health or inadequate temperature control during fermentation, or worst case by poor sanitation practices. These are the kind of flaws that well run breweries just don’t accept in their beers... you mostly run into them judging home brew competitions. They may not bother you, but they’re a sure sign of lax operational control, whether intentional or not.

I’m analyzing them on technical merit, not giving you a subjective opinion here - you should obviously feel free to like or dislike them for your own reasons. I like hanging out at Fullsteam and enjoy several of their beers. But no way would I classify them as a great brewery, especially within the landscape of excellent brewing to be found in North Carolina
