Where have all the Californians gone? 2015-2019 data

Idk, you seemed angry.

How and why it got more than 20k upvotes, I will never understand. Especially since the movie was horribly down-sampled.

This says it all to me, though. While I personally will appreciate the difference of a high quality file, most people don't. It's not inherent to the part of the work that gets people, which is the illustrated narrative that may strike a political/emotional chord with some.

My attitude isn't entirely "that's just how it is" - but it is that when it comes to the platforms we utilize that have built their profit model off of it. So yea, when it comes to FB, IG, Reddit, etc. - That's just how it is, because they were built for it to be this way. You can see in this forum alone that no matter how justified you are, when you make a point to grab credit for work, people read it uncharitably. It's shitty, but it's a PR lesson I learned awhile back. People don't want to be lectured to unless they're paying for it. They may need it, but that's a different story. Giving your work away as a prof is totally different because you have tenure/paycheck! You get that because it's assumed as part of your job you're going to be actively contributing to your field. Trying being a creator who makes a living off of that (this has been me) while this shit happens. Trust me, I know the frustration.

Again, I agree with your sentiment about right and wrong.

I'm no NFT evangelist but long term - if digital ownership is built into the files, and people take the trouble to utilize them for such works, well, then, it could help the issue. That's different than what's happening now with all the speculative trading of silly animated profile pics though. You can dismiss them but they go a lot further towards protecting rights of digital creators than getting mad about it on a forum and asking for credit.

Again, best of luck.
