Manga outsells comic because of Paul

What if younger folks aren't interested in reading superhero stories and just want anything else other than Marvel and DC? The problem with American comic book compared to manga is availability and genre staleness.

Manga offers more than just action stories like Naruto and Dragon Ball, they also have a wide variety of other subgenres like romance, sports, cooking, street racing, toy car racing and many others.

Mainstream American comic books only offers superhero stories, which many younger casual readers aren't interested in, especially when the characters are decades old and a subject of many retcons. Indie comic books are doing a bad job at promoting their non-superhero works to attract the younger crowd to read them, let alone buying them in stores.

Manga doesn't have this problem. You're a 14 year old girl wanting only fluffy romance story set in a high school? There's plenty of it. You're a 30 year old man and want to read a story about basketball? Got them too. All available online.

My point is, this "follow a character that you're interested in by runs" is moot when you're not interested or no longer interested in superhero stories to begin with. That's the whole point of this post, that the guy is no longer interested in a long running superhero series that seemingly never made any progress and he'd rather save his money on a manga that isn't a superhero story.
